The full list
Behold, the list of problems!
I don’t have a lot yet, I’ll be adding much more as the year goes on, totalling 99 by December. I promise, too, that on November 30th I won’t add filler goals like “visit my parents over christmas”. Only the real deal make the cut.
Meaningless:
1) Watch “Brewsters Millions”
Smauz keeps telling me about this movie and how I need to see it, so now it’s a goal. See, setting the bar high with my first problem. Also, should this be in “Culture Vulture”?
2) Scare someone really badly and get it on film
I’ll save this one for when my brothers visit.
3) Throw a really fun party.
We threw a party for Riki’s birthday Nov. 2006 that was a huge success. The cops came three times, and now my next-door neighbor won’t make eye-contact with us. That’s okay though, I put a dirty sock in her laundry chute as revenge. Plus she never has company and is probably just depressed. Anyway, I want to have another one like that.
4) Have a margarita party on a Sunday afternoon.
I don’t know what a margarita party technically is, but I’ll have one and there will be margaritas there. And the day will be Sunday!
5-9) TBD!
The heart smart category:
10) Interview my grandparents, blog about it, and scan photos.
My grandparents on both sides have really fantastic stories that involve, in no particular order: Living in Spain, Living in Africa, Owning a chimpanzee with one-arm, Living through the great depression, Birthing 8 children, Owning a hippo whose offspring is now in the Cleveland Zoo, and is named Pam, after my grandmother… etc. etc.
I want to hear these stories first person, and get them in writing.
11) Write one letter per month.
One real, handwritten letter. To 12 different people. I know this doesn’t seem hard, but it is hard so lay off.
12) Make a family tree
I did this years ago… but this version should be a little better since I’m not 11 this time.
13) Have a sleepover party with my brother and drink margaritas at Chili’s, then play Wii.
My brother lives about 45 min. away from me, but I never see him. I want to see him more, and a sleepover party is the perfect way to start.
14) Leave a server a really big tip in proportion to the ticket
When I was a server at a little restaurant called On the Border back in the early 00’s, I would sometimes get really huge tips and it would make my day. Once I got $100. $100! And not from a creep either, from a family. I won’t be leaving quite that much, but it will be enough to be heart smart.
15) Volunteer somewhere
I’m not sure where yet… but I’ll let you know.
16-19) TBD!
The Healthy Category:
20) Go to Yoga twice a week.
I’ve decided to let myself “make up” the health goals (within reason). So, if one week I can only do yoga once, I’ll go three times the following week. I enjoy yoga, but I think I’ll end up hating this problem.
21) Ride my bike to work 3 days a week for the entire year.
Man, these weekly goals are gonna be a huge pain in the ass to keep up with. Ugh, see - problems. But, this will save me $624 in train fare over the year. Not to mention all the times I wake up at 8:10 and have to take a cab to get there in time.
22) Play on a women’s baseball team
I have this kind of in the works… I’m hoping it officially pans out. It would be so much fun.
23) Lose 10 pounds
God, I know! This one is so obnoxious! But hopefully this will just happen with all the other activity going on.
24) Run the Cincinnati Flying Pig Half Marathon. hooray. :/
25) Problem #25 Do the Danskin Chicagoland Womens Triathalon
26-29) TBD. Dammit! I can’t believe I need 5 more.
Get Smart:
30) Learn Spanish.
WTF! This is gonna be hard!
31) Take a knife skills class with Amy
32-39) I might need to move some goals out of this category and into others. we’ll see…
Food:
40) Bike to an Ethiopian restaurant with Riki
41) Bike to Veggie Bite on the south side with Amy
We talked about doing this last year, then I broke my collar bone and couldn’t bike for 5 months. This year, it’s all about biking to places just to eat.
42) Bike to Hot Doug’s
I’ve still never been to Hot Dougs!
43) Make 1 new vegan recipe per week
44-49) TBD!
Financial:
50) Increase what I’m putting into my savings accound by 25% per month.
I’ll increase this after goal 51 is complete.. which is…
51) Pay off all of my debt.
Excluding school loans, I don’t have much, but I’ve been carrying it around for a long time. Time to get rid of it.
52) Invest in a Roth IRA
Man, this is so adult. I need to go get baked and play xbox to offset this one.
53) Do a full on written budget
54-59) I might move some out of here too, I don’t have a whole lot of financial goals for this year.
You tell me what to do:
60-68) This is my favorite. I’ll open a post up for suggestions of Things I should Do, and do what you tell me.
69, Submitted by Aaron D.) Record a hip-hop record (at least 4 songs) with Riki and make a myspace music page for it.
The Culture Vulture:
71-79) Hmm.. nothing yet…
Travel:
80) Go to Ecuador
Yay! I’m going this summer with Riki and meeting my mom there. I can’t wait.
81) Go camping with Riki
82) Visit Katie in North Carolina
Katie is one of my oldest friends, I met her when I was 13. I made plans to visit her last year, and never did. So here it is.
83-89) TBD
Random:
90) There is one big thing that I’ll tell you ’bout later…
91) Get new glasses. Have respect the new glasses. Wear the new glasses always, and never lose them again.
91-99) TBD… lots TBD…

This is very fun! I look forward to following your progress and I’ll be thinking of things to make you do, ha ha. Obviously you should aim to travel to Venezuela…

How exciting! Now that I’ve seen a person’s goals summarized this way, I can’t imagine not having a list and some way of being accountable to it. This is fantastic! Mmmm… margarita party.

I saw your blog on Julio’s, just so you don’t think I’m some super-creep stalker type.
You’ve put up some pretty big expectations for yourself, little lady! I think it’s great though, super cute, especially the “Heart Smart” category. It just screams adorable! I like the photos too, the font is great on them.
Keep up the good work.
